What If…? Season 3 is all set to go beyond the previous two seasons, as confirmed by the series’ co-executive producer, Brad Winderbaum. In addition, the third season could serve as the completion of the trilogy.
Speaking with The Official Marvel Podcast, Winderbaum discussed going “beyond the first two seasons.” He also indicated that the third season could end the animated series.
This is what he said:
“Feels like the completion of a trilogy. It goes beyond the first two seasons in its exploration of the multiverse, and it pulls in characters that are very unexpected, and has what I think is an extremely moving and fulfilling culmination for the Watcher.”
According to some online rumors, the upcoming Season 3 could indeed conclude the What If…? series. The third season could showcase the shocking death of The Watcher, the show’s protagonist for the last two seasons. However, the concept of What If…? allows the makers to explore the multiverse as comprehensively as they can. In other words, this animated show could go on as long as the MCU exists. After all, the multiverse opens the door for an infinite number of storylines.
Avengers: Secret Wars is poised to bring the MCU’s Multiverse Saga to a close. While Marvel Studios hasn’t announced a fourth season of What If…?, the show’s exploration of alternate realities presents endless possibilities for future stories, even beyond the Multiverse Saga.
What If…? Season 3 could premiere on Disney+ Hotstar in 2025. Stay tuned for more updates.
