What Is Netflix India Doing Wrong With ‘Jung_E’ Promotions!

The South Korean film ‘Jung_E‘ was released on the 20th of this January and it has garnered a huge amount of views globally but this was not the case in India. ‘Jung_E’ is topping Netflix’s trending list globally of last week. It did not have such a nice performance in India and the only reason behind that is the promotional strategies of Netflix India.

It is not that India does not have a market for Korean films. India is, in fact, one of the biggest markets for Korean films and K-drama. Indians love Korean cinema and it is an ever-growing market here.

Jung_E is a science fiction film written and directed by Yeon Sang-Ho, who is also the director of the film ‘Train To Busan’ which has a tremendous fan base in India. The film has a cast of actors like Kang Soo-yeon, Kim Hyun-joo and Ryu Kyung-soo. The music is given by Kim Dong-wook and the movie is extremely well made. The performances are good and the storyline is impressive. There is absolutely no solid reason for Indians not watching this movie. The only reason can be the bad promotion of Netflix. As you can see in the pictures, Jung_E is trending on number 1 of Netflix globally but it is not there in the top 10 lost of India of last week.

There is no doubt that Netflix India is extremely good in terms of promotion but they need to focus more on films that have the potential to make more views. A film like ‘Jung_E’ that is trending globally, deserves a hype in India too. India being a country that has always accepted Korean content with great love, is ignoring a film from a director like Yeon Sang-Ho. Netflix India could have promoted the film with some more efforts so that it could reach a bigger audience and become a hit in India too.
