The worldwide blockbuster, ‘Baahubali’ was all set to get a TV series adaptation ‘Baahubali: Before the Beginning’ a prequel to the 2015 film on Netflix.
The 13 episode adaptation which is based on the novel ‘The Rise of Sivagami’ follows the rise of Mahishmati from a city to an empire which is obstructed by various powerful forces and set in this rich backdrop is the life of Queen Sivagami through the years; right from being a young and defiant girl to a fierce queen and ruler. The stunning visuals, high production value and strong narratives that made the film franchises a hit are expected to be delivered for the TV series as well.
Which makes us wonder; why has there been no word on the release of this sure shot blockbuster yet?
Netflix had partnered with Arka Media Houses and SS Rajmouli for this ambitious project and Deva Katta and Praveen Sataru would direct the series. Actors such as Mrunal Thakur, Rahul Bose, Atul Kulkarni and Siddharth Arora among others had already started shooting for the series last year as well.
We decided to dig deep into the matter and found some answers.
Apparently Netflix is not too happy with the result and has found that the project is not up to the mark for a 2020 release. It has asked the makers to change some episodes and improve the digital post-production on the series as well. It will take a final decision once all the work is done and might push the show for a 2021 release instead.
