What’s Love Got To Do With It: An Indian Film Holding Fort At TIFF

Toronto International Film Festival has 41 days to go before getting started. But the list of films which will be screened is out and we have finally found an Indian film.

Well, it is not completely an Indian film but definitely an Indian story by an Indian filmmaker.

We are talking about veteran filmmaker Shekhar Kapur. Yes, he is the same man who started making films outside India after giving mega-blockbuster cult classics like Mr. India and The Bandit Queen.

He is making a film called ‘What’s Love Got To Do With It?’ and it is getting screened at the festival.

The 108 minutes film will be available not only in Hindi but also in English.

The film revolves around the story of a filmmaker who wants to capture his best friend’s arranged wedding as a documentary.

And of course, we know what arranged marriages are like.

Regardless, the film stars exceptionally talented Shabana Azmi with Lily James, Shazad Latif, and Emma Thompson.

Currently, there isn’t any screening date for any film at the festival but only the names are being announced. Filmmakers need to understand that Indians are much more than arranged weddings, oily food, thick accent, and all the stereotypes which follow.
