The Witcher, Netflix, December 20:

Netflix premieres its new fantasy series, The Witcher, based on Polish author Andrzej Sapkowski’s series of fantasy novels and stories that feature Geralt of Rivia as the central character. He is a monster-hunter who must ally with a powerful sorceress and a young Princess, to hunt down the monsters threatening his world. It stars Henry Cavill as Geralt of Rivia, Anya Chalotra as Yennefer and Freya Allan as Ciri.

The Two Popes, Netflix Original Movie, December 20:

A Netflix Original movie, it is based on Anthony McCarten’s play, in which Pope Benedict hands over the care of the Roman Catholic Church to Pope Francis, while discussing the future of the institution. Anthony Hopkins and Game of Thrones actor Jonathan Pryce have put in terrific performances as the two Popes.

Rangbaaz Phirse, ZEE5, December 20:

ZEE5’s marquee Original show is back with its second edition, with another true story of a dreaded, most-wanted criminal, a man who isn’t born a criminal. Circumstances make him one. Jimmy Sheirgill, Sushant Singh, Gul Panag, Zeeshan Ayyub, Sharad Kelkar and Harsh Chhaya star in this gritty and gripping drama.

The Aeronauts, Amazon Prime, December 20:

The movie tells the story of the balloon flight that made a new record for reaching the highest altitude in 1862. Though originally undertaken by British aeronauts James Glaisher and Henry Coxwell, Coxwell’s character is replaced with the fictional character of a wealthy widow. It is an inspiring, uplifting account of the power of human endeavour. It stars Eddie Redmayne, Felicity Jones, Himesh Patel and Phoebe Fox.
