The 96th annual Academy Awards nominations have been announced. Hollywood is gearing up to honour the best in cinema at the upcoming Oscar Awards 2024. The Oscars 2024 will be held on 10th March, at the Dolby Theatre at Hollywood in Los Angeles.
Comedian and talk show host Jimmy Kimmel returns as the host for the Oscars 2024, his second consecutive year of hosting the awards, and fourth Academy Awards overall.
Several high profile movies are in the running for most of the categories at the Oscars 2024. Christopher Nolan’s Oppenhiemer, Margot Robbie’s Barbie, French film Anatomy Of A Fall, The Holdovers, Martin Scorsese’s Killers Of The Flower Moon among others, are nominated in major categories at the prestigious awards.
As expected, Oppenheimer swept the nominations at the Oscars, with a total of 13 nominations. Poor Things is next with 11 nominations, Killers Of The Flower Moon with 10 nominations, followed by Barbie with 8 nominations.
There’s tight competition for the Best Picture and Best International Feature Film this year, with Oppenheimer, Anatomy Of A Fall, The Zone Of Interest, Society Of The Snow, Past Lives, among others, all drumming up interest.
This year, the only representation for India at the Oscars is an India-centric documentary ‘To Kill A Tiger’, which has made it to the nominees for Best Documentary Feature. The documentary is technically Canadian, but written and directed by Indian origin filmmaker, Nisha Pahuja. Priyanka Chopra Jonas, Dev Patel and Mindy Kaling are on board the film as executive producers.

In India, Disney Plus Hotstar has acquired the streaming rights for the Academy Awards 2024. As for the time, owing to the almost 12-hour time difference between US and India times, the Oscars will stream in India in the early morning hours of 11th March, which is at 5:30 am.
