For those not in the know, the new season of Dexter is titled ‘Dexter: New Blood’. This new season of Dexter can be called as a standalone limited series instead of labelling it as Dexter Season 9. That’s how Showtime, the broadcast network that owns the property, is marketing Dexter: New Blood. It is also labelled as the Dexter Revival series.
Michael C. Hall returns to reprise his role of Dexter Morgan. The backdrop has shifted from Miami in the original series, to a small town – Iron Lake, New York. The events of Dexter: New Blood take place ten years after the events of the finale eight years ago. Dexter is living under an assumed name, but the serial killer in him seems to be back to his old ways.
Much to the delight of fans, Jennifer Carpenter returns in the Dexter Revival series, to reprise her original role of Debra Morgan. John Lithgow will also return as Arthur Mitchell, albeit in a cameo. Julia Jones, Jack Alcott, Alano Miller, Johnny Sequoyah and Clancy Brown are the new additions to the cast.
And now for the all important question. Dexter: New Blood will stream in India on Voot Select, as that’s where all Showtime series land, courtesy a deal between Viacom 18 (Voot’s parent company) and Showtime. Lastly, Dexter: New Blood will premiere in the US on Showtime on November 7th, 2021 at 9:30 pm. That means, it will begin streaming in India on Voot Select sometime after 6:30 am on the morning of 8th November. The 10-episode series will be broadcast in the one-episode per week format.
