Hoichoi has branched up in Bangladesh and was doing quite well there. Hoichoi Bangladesh has had multiple big budget projects that have been popular on both sides of the Bengal border but now there seems to be a lack of new projects and the platform is promoting old shows only.
While Hoichoi is coming with new shows or movies every now and then, there seems to be a surprising silence from Hoichoi Bangladesh. The student uprising and subversion of government caused huge uproar in the country and it was not stable at all. But it has been long since that and things are calmer at this point.
And it seems improbable that Hoichoi Bangladesh did not have any ready-to-release projects at the time of the protests that they cannot release now.
There are shows like ‘Nikosh Chhaya’, ‘Kaberi’, ‘Parineeta’ coming on Hoichoi Bengal and they are having good reviews from audiences as well. Qualitatively, Bangladeshi OTT content has always been better than Bengali ones and are also preferred more. So the void is not being filled by the shows like Parineeta and Hoichoi Bangladesh should resume their business as soon as possible.
Let us see how long it takes for the channel to come up from the inertia of the uprising and cater to the needs of audiences.
