When Will The Bengali Theatrical Market Open For Malayalam Movies?

Malayalam.movies are rocking the scene when it comes to content and over the past few years we have seen movies from Kerala that have impressed audiences and critics alike. The whole of north India is discovering Malayalam cinema once again and the movies are having theatrical releases in the Hindi-speaking belt as well, although it is not as big as it is for Telugu and Tamil titles.

But there are still no opportunities for Malayalam movies in the Bengali market. One big reason is the dubs for these movies are not easily available. And people do not still like it to watch a movie with subtitles only. Telugu and Tamil movies, even some Kannada ones get good openings because these movies are dubbed with great efforts. Very rarely are movies like ‘Adujeevitham’ released there, that too in the capital only.

There is a huge crowd in West Bengal that Likes to watch Malayalam films on OTT and they would like to have the theatrical experience as well. Even some Malayalam movies are remade in Bengali too, like the upcoming Surjo is a remake of Charlie. But the absence of Malayalam titles in the Bengali theatrical market is concerning. These films would definitely harden the competition for local titles, but the satisfaction of the audiences and the huge demand of the Malayalam films must be put to thought.
