Indian men’s cricket has always dominated the competition. It is thanks to the hard work and dedication of Indian women’s cricketing superstars such as Jhulan Goswami, Mithali Raj, and Anjum Chopra that players like Harmanpreet Kaur can display their abilities on a global platform. While women were mostly overlooked in Cricket over the years, the perception is changing with time and fans are thrilled to witness the Indian team in action at the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup.
Ten top national teams, including Australia, England, India, Sri Lanka, and others, will square off in the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup as the battle for supremacy in cricket begins. Scotland vs. Bangladesh kicks off the tournament in the United Arab Emirates on Thursday, October 3rd at Sharjah Stadium.
Dubai International Cricket Stadium and Sharjah Cricket Stadium will host matches during the competition. Over 18 days, 23 games will be played in the competition, leading up to the championship match on October 20 where the new T20 World Champion will be crowned. Though the event’s favorites are expected to be Australia, India, and England, the other countries will also try to create an impression and compete for the ultimate ICC crown.
The tournament can be watched live on Star Sports Network throughout the campaign. It can also be streamed on Disney+ Hotstar in multiple languages. For the first time in the annals of international cricket, the prize money for the women’s and men’s events will be the same.
The Women’s T20 World Cup 2024 victors will take home USD 2.34 million, a whopping 134% increase over the USD 1 million given to Australia in the 2023 competition staged in South Africa. It all starts from October 3rd as ICC T20 Women’s World Cup will stream live on Star Sports Network and Disney+ Hotstar.
