Synopsis: Raghu, a police officer, lives with his wife and two children. After a person from his past returns to his life, he tries to help his son understand his confusing relationships with the opposite gender.
Vijay Superum Pournamiyum
Another unconventional romance comedy, Asif Ali shines in his role as a lovable leadman after playing multiple antagonist roles just before this film’s release. The movie tackles important subject matters such as arranged marriage, responsibility and self-worth. This feel-good movie can be streamed on ManoramaMax.
Synopsis: Vijay, an engineer who aspires to become a restauranteur meets Pournami, an MBA graduate, during a matchmaking gone wrong. The two grow close to each other but struggle with their ambitions.
Salt N’ Pepper
Asif Ali plays a supporting role in this romantic comedy. He is not limited to his genre, as he plays many other nuanced roles in various types of films. This Malayalam dramatic film has Asif in the lead role again. But this time the film talk about a serious matter – domestic rape and the people who get affected. This less talked about topic is the fore-front of this film and made the movie a critical and financial hit. Catch this film on Amazon Prime Video.
Synopsis: Sleevachan, a farmer who gets uncomfortable around women, gets married to Rincy, upon his relatives’ insistence. On the advice of his friends, he gets drunk one night and rapes her, causing her to leave him.
Special Mention: Ritu
Asif Ali’s debut low budget film has become a cult-classic in the past decade. Playing an antagonist role, he shines in his first portrayal, which garnered him rave reviews. This film is hard to find but there are versions of the film available on multiple video sharing platforms.
Synopsis: Sarath who leaves his childhood friends, Varsha and Sunny, for a career in the USA, returns home and asks them to join his new venture. But he is surprised to learn that his friends are not the same.
