Where To Watch These 6 Must Watch Dulquer Salmaan Films!!!

Since this is the 5th entry of the “6 Must Watch Series Featuring Malayalam Actors”, let’s try something a little different. Since many movies have already been repeated in the previous articles (featuring Fahadh Faasil, Nivin Pauly, Tovino Thomas and Parvathy Thiruvothu), let us take a look at a few lesser known films by DQ (Dulquer Salman), which (don’t worry) are still must-sees. Luckily for us, the actor has been releasing a lot of films and a majority of them have been brilliant. Take a look:

Karwaan:

This film marked DQ’s Bollywood debut. The film was critically well-received but it barely made back its original budget. This heart-warming film is a must-watch and it was unlucky that it “failed” at the box office. Watch this film on Amazon Prime Video.

Synopsis: Avinash’s father passes away and he is sent his body for cremation. On getting the corpse, he realizes there has been a mix-up and his father’s body has been sent to Kochi. He and his van driver friend Shaukat decide to travel to Kochi to pick up his father’s body while picking up a stray girl along the way.

Neelakasham Pachakadal Chuvanna Bhoomi:

This beautiful film is about a man’s quest to win back the love of his woman. He travels through India and views her various landscapes and topography, showcasing a brilliant road trip on screen. This film gained cult status among YA in Kerala and instantly brought in a wave of new Bullet users in the state. Watch this feature on Disney+Hotstar.

Synopsis: Kasi and Suni decide to take a long road trip, from Kochi to Nagaland in search of Kasi’s girlfriend. On their journey, they both experience several life-changing moments.

Kannum Kannum Kollaiyadithaal:

The feature film was released in February this year, in the Tamil language. This romantic-comedy heist movie was written and directed by Desingh Periyasamy. There is also a sequel planned by the director, which is set to go to the floor soon. Stream this film on Netflix.

Synopsis: Two young men who create online shopping scams, fall in love and decide to quit their shady business. Little do they know, the real intentions of their lovers are something else.

Kammati Paadam:

This brilliant feature became a cult classic on release, and both DQ and Vinayakan were praised for their exemplary performances. Touching on themes of old regrets and caste divisions, this film is a must-watch for all. This feature is available on Disney+Hotstar.

Synopsis: Krishnan, who was working in Mumbai, returns to Kammattipaadam after his childhood friend, Ganga, calls for help. There, they find themselves in danger as their past criminal activities come back to haunt them.

Parava:

This brilliant movie was partly written and directed by acclaimed actor-director Soubin Shahir, who also features in the film. DQ has an extended cameo in this film, but his short role was well received by the film audience. Watch this movie on Disney+Hotstar.

Synopsis: Irshad and Haseeb are two teenage boys from Mattancherry who share a passion for pigeon flying, a common game in the locality. Irshad soon talks about a tragic incident that ruined many friendships in the neighborhood.

Ustad Hotel:

DQ made a splash during his debut in the film ‘Second Show’. But he garnered true fame in his second feature film, ‘Ustad Hotel’. One of the few Indian films which is themed around food, the story of the film made this food film stand apart from the rest of it’s (Indian) genre. Themes of love, being independent and doing what you love for a living, resonated well with the audience, and it became a commercial and critical hit. Catch DQ’s brilliance on Disney+Hotstar.

Synopsis: Faizi, an aspiring chef, returns to his hometown in India from Switzerland, when he fails to receive support from his father. He tries to fulfil his dream by helping his grandfather, Kareem, by helping him to run his hotel.
