Which One Audiences Loved More: House of the Dragon or GOT S1?

The widely acclaimed ‘Game of Thrones’ prequel series ‘House of the Dragon’ recently premiered its tenth and final episode, which stunned the audience with an emotionally charged and shocking climax. The HOTD S1 finale had set the tone for the second season, which will begin filming in early 2023.

Now that all the episodes of the ‘House of the Dragon’ series have been aired, the audience verdict is out as well. So, let’s see which one of these shows has outdone the other from the audiences’ point of view – the parent show ‘Game of Thrones Season-1’ or ‘House of the Dragon Season-1’?

On the reviews aggregation portal Rotten Tomatoes, ‘House of the Dragon Season-1’ currently holds 84% average audience score. On the other hand, its parent show ‘Game of Thrones’ Season-1, which came out in the year 2011, presently boasts of a highly impressive 96% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes.

On another popular films and movies centric website IMDb, ‘House of the Dragon Season-1’ has been rated by its users with a score of 8.6/10. While the average user rating for ‘Game of Thrones’ Season-1 on IMDb is 8.97/10. It’s a close call but we still have a winner.

Metacritic

On the widely known reviews aggregator Metacritic, ‘House of the Dragon Season-1’ has received a user score of 5.2, indicating mixed or average reviews as per Metacritic (hard to believe, right?). While ‘Game of Thrones’ Season-1 currently holds a much higher user score of 9.1, indicating universal acclaim as per the portal. Although the HOTD S1 user score is based on just 665 ratings, which is quite less. This figure might improve in a few months. But, as of now, the winner is clear.

So, as you can see above, ‘Game of Thrones’ Season-1 has outdone ‘House of the Dragon Season-1’ on all three websites namely Rotten Tomatoes, IMDB, and Metacritic as far as user / audience feedback is concerned.
