While Netflix Pulls Off, A Russian Films Sneaks To Netflix Top 10

The world is a strange place. On one hand, Netflix withdrew its services from Russia but the obsession of Americans with Russia isn’t a secret.

A Russian film became the third most-watched non-English film on Netflix and that too on a global level. We are talking about the most dangerous disaster of the 20th century, the Chernobyl nuclear decay.

The film is called Chernobyl: Abyss or Chernobyl 1986 and is currently garnering insane views on Netflix. Needless to say, this is a response to the ongoing war between Russia and Ukraine where the former claims to have captured the Chernobyl nuclear power station.

Directed by Danila Kozlovsky, the film was made in collaboration with the Russian authorities and released in 2020. If you remember then a show called Chernobyl existed. It was once the highest-rated show in the world and is currently streaming on Disney+Hotstar in India. On the other hand, people failed to shower much love on Chernobyl 1986 as its IMDb rating is nothing appreciable.

As you can see, Chernobyl 1986 was viewed for 7730000 hours making it the third most-watched non-English film on Netflix last week.

Although the story is more or less, this Russian film lacks the brutality that Chernobyl (HBO Max) had for showing the truth.
