Netflix has released a bunch of new shows lately, and one of them which is trending at the Number One spot in the top 10 internationally is ‘Who Killed Sara?’.
Now why is this Netflix show’s success significant in terms of international viewership? For one, this is a Spanish revenge thriller where ’13 Reasons Why’ meets ‘Sherlock Holmes’ meets ‘Hercule Poirot’ in a Mexican mafia-business tycoon set up. And it’s bound to raise a few eye-brows in excitement. But the question remains – is watching Who Killed Sara? worth your while?
The show has been created by José Ignacio Valenzuela, a prolific Chilean screenwriter who has a long history with the detective genre, including a deep love for authors Agatha Christie and Arthur Conan Doyle. The story of Who Killed Sara? follows Álex Guzmán, who is sent to prison for 18 years on charges of murdering his sister Sara, a crime which he was falsely accused of.
He is hell-bent on finding out who actually killed Sara, and on getting revenge on the powerful Lazcano family, who he believes have a direct connection in the murder. Though Netflix’s Who Killed Sara has all the spice to make it a hot-shot tale of revenge, there are a few misfires and ‘ifs and buts’ that may make you question the credibility of the story. The narrative also goes over the top sometimes, and fails to impress on a few occasions.
The overall plot is extremely well crafted and intriguing and the cast and the crew do justice to the story. Who Killed Sara? getting greenlit for the second season within a week of its release is proof of the success of the show on Netflix.
Fans have even come up with a theory that this could be a true story as The Lazcanos share a surname with an infamous drug lord in real life; though the makers already confirmed that this is a fictional character.
So, if you guys are planning for bingeing this week, you could surely give the 10-episode series Who Killed Sara? on Netflix a try, and it will certainly leave you wanting more from Season 2.
Not spoiling anything more, but we’ll leave it to you to watch it and decide for yourself whether it’s worth your while or not!
