After the concept of a Multiverse was teased in ‘Avengers: End Game’ and ‘Spiderman: Far From Home’ (although this turned out to be a hoax by Mysterio), Marvel has decided to go open up the concept fully in the 2022’s ‘Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness’. Marvel is planning on bringing multiple versions of Benedict Cumberbatch as Dr. Strange on the silver screen as well as including multiple cameos of other actors coming on to portray well known characters from Marvel’s Cinematic Universe (MCU).
And one of the big names thrown around by Marvel, according to reports, is Tom Cruise who is reportedly going to be offered a ‘small role’ as Iron Man. It is a well known fact (now) that before Robert Downey, Jr. (RDJ) immortalized Iron Man on the big screen, Tom Cruise was one of the big names considered for the project, who then ultimately declined to focus on his other projects. We are excited to hear about this (even if it is just a rumor as of now) and are hoping that this could also mean that there is a very real chance we could see a John Krasinski version of Captain America also (fingers-crossed). But one thing is for certain; this film will open up a lot of new possibilities for the MCU, both for cameos and story-lines.
Marvel is taking a well deserved break after the megahit ‘Avengers: End Game’ and ‘Spiderman: Far From Home’ which signified the end of Phase 3 for Marvel’s plans. With Black Widow set to open Phase 4 (which sadly couldn’t release this year, due to the pandemic) and the Dr. Strange film to end the series, we are expecting the Multiverse concept, or at least the theory will be explored more in detail in the up-coming seven new projects which are part of the Phase 4.
