6 days remaining and the controversy behind the trailer of the second season of ‘The Family Man‘ is still the talk of many. The Tamil Nadu Government is furious, many in social media is protesting and lead actors are being ordered to not talk – chaos all around. With all of this going on, no one is talking about all the good things this controversy is doing – showing Amazon Prime Video‘s stance on the whole controversy (the words “controversy” and “controversial” are going to be quite common here, bare with us) and the entire cause.
Controversial subjects will always grab the media’s attention. No matter how small it is. And this controversy is by no means – small. But the talk of controversy is always a good thing, as it shows where the majority of people stand on said controversy. And regarding the Sri Lankan – Eelam Tamil issue, a lot of people took offence on their behalf, which is good to see.
Even Amazon Prime Video explained that the series that Eelam Tamils we’re not meant to be portrayed bad light, and since their deposition was only shown in the trailer of the TV series, we are inclined to believe them. We have no idea the direction the show will take so we shouldn’t judge it before the web series even drops. Also, this is the OTT platform that removed this very show from its original release date and shifted it by a couple of months when they saw the response to Saif Ali Khan’s ‘Tandav’. So that will be one situation they will be trying to avoid. And speaks volumes about the streaming platform’s commitment is not wanting to offend their viewers. Again, good to see.
Plus this entire controversy has been brought to light due to this trailer. True, they could have left it out or handled the issue more sensitively, but it is out there now. And it is being talked about more than ever before. And that is thanks to this trailer, no matter what anyone wants to say about the promotional video.
Check out the second season of ‘The Family Man’ as it premieres on Amazon Prime Video on June 4th 2021. The first season is already streaming on said OTT.
