The Malayalam film Lucifer was a superhit film, noted for its heavenly cast and exciting storyline. Superstar Mohanlal played the lead role in this movie, directed by actor Prithviraj Sukumaran. The screenplay for Lucifer was written by Murali Gopi, who is notable for his different works. The film had a gigantic star cast like Vivek Oberoi, Prithviraj, Indrajith Sukumaran, Manju Warrier, and Tovino Thomas. The Godfather, the Telugu rendition of Lucifer with Megastar Chiranjeevi, is preparing for release in a month’s time. Even being a remake of such a big film, is The Godfather making a pre-release excitement? If not, what could the reasons be? We should examine more details.
Godfather is directed by successful Tamil director Mohan Raja. He is well known for his movies, like Thani Oruvan, Velaikaaran, and Santosh Subramaniam. Like Lucifer, this film is additionally honoured with the association of huge stars. Aside from Chiranjeevi, the movie also stars Lady Superstar Nayanthara, Samuthirakani, Satyadev Kancharana, and director Puri Jagannath. Also, the role played by Prithviraj in Lucifer is played here by Bollywood legend Salman Khan.
Since the arrival of the film’s trailer, a few trolls and detestable remarks have come against the Godfather. The main reason is that the crowd is directly contrasting this film with Lucifer. Actually, nobody recalls that the making of the film would change, contingent upon the way of life of each place. Although this is valid, we get to see an elegant form of Mohanlal’s personality through Chiranjeevi. The adjustment of the scenes alongside Chiranjeevi’s fame made a lot of the crowd exhausted.
Another reason why the Godfather doesn’t have a buzz is the colossal disappointment of Koratala Siva’s Chiranjeevi film, Acharya. The much-advertised film was dismissed by crowds and critics alike. The next reason is Godfather’s poor promotional programs. So far, the makers have not done any kind of promotional activity to attract the audience. The methods of promotion by just going to the malls are now outdated. Recently, Sita Ram has shown us how to market films differently. The tremendous reception of the Nagarjuna film Ghost’s trailer and its synchronous release has caused the pre-release buzz of the Godfather to be negative.
The film cycle is, at times, not our thought process. There are still a few days left, and we should find out how the Godfather team will manage it.
