The Otaku fandom is growing larger day by day, and it’s very evident that once you fall into the rabbit hole there is no going back.
But, the problem occurs when you go to Google and search for an anime and then go to Netflix or Prime and you are unable to find it.
That is because Netflix, Prime, and Hotstar don’t have that vast category of Anime which the Anime fandom is asking for now.
India didn’t really pay that much attention to the anime industry for the longest time, and we crave what our culture provides us with.
Most of the anime which we all cheer about are basically from Japan, because “Manga” itself is a Japanese art culture which is rooted to their core, we tend to enjoy them more.
But the recent addition of “Baahubali: The Lost Legends”, “ Baahubali : Crown Of Blood” and “ The Legend of Hanuman” are India’s take to create anime which were very well received. It was made in India based on an Indian story.
But still, Netflix has a very limited and short category of very popular anime like “Demon Slayer” , “Jujutsu Kaise” , “Haikyu”, “Naruto” and “Death Note” and some more very popular anime.
But, what about series like “Hellsing” , “Orange” , “Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood” , “Gangstar” and many more.
Although because Disney is now with Hotstar we get to see all the Disney animations there which is a good thing, and most of the Indian animes are also available in Hotstar as they are “Hotstar Original”.
But the only option left for Otakus is to do Piracy, which is now banned in most of the regions in India.
Then what should we do?
There is a solution to that with prime membership you can get Crunchyroll as an add on for just rupees 79, and Crunchyroll Is a legitimate website where you can get access to any anime.
But the point is many people won’t do it because Netflix is a hyped up website in India people look up to Netflix for new content. If they add more underrated anime under their raider then there won’t be any problem at all.
Youngsters used to do Piracy because they had no option left, but now if the options are available then the rate piracy will decrease with time.
If india starts their own anime house and starts producing Anime in their indianised style only then the popularity of the anime will grow, otherwise it’ll always stay as a very risky walk on a thread.
