Zakariya Ahmed’s latest Malayalam feature film ‘Halal Love Story’ is set to release on Amazon Prime Video later this month. This will be the third Malayalam film premiering on the OTT giant, while also being the fifth mainstream Malayalam feature to premiere on a major OTT platform. Prime Video will make the film available in over 200 countries and territories.
The director of the movie, Zakariya had also previously written and directed the sleeper hit ‘Sudani from Nigeria’. He also acted in the medical drama ‘Virus’, another critical and commercial success. So even though he has less experience, he has been part of noteworthy projects and movie goers everywhere are anticipating his next venture with vigor.
Zakariya’s latest film is supposed to be an unconventional journey of love. Much of the plot has not been released by the production company or the writer-director, but here is what we know; the film follows a group of intense filmmakers who come together to make a film that follows religious guidelines in every step of the filmmaking. This results in hilarious chaos and confusion. ‘Halal Love Story’ is said to be of a family comedy genre.
The film will star Indrajith Sukumaran, Joju George, Sharaf U Dheen, Grace Antony and Soubin Shahir in lead roles along with Parvathy Thiruvothu. Zakariya, Ashif Kakkodi jointly scripted the screenplay. Aashiq Abu, Jesna Ashim and Harshad Ali will produce the film under the banner Papaya Films. Zakariya and Muhsin Parari along with the film’s cinematographer Ajay Menon and editor Saiju Shreedharan will all act as co-producers for the feature film as well.
‘Halal Love Story’ is set to premiere on Amazon Prime Video on October 15th 2020.
