Every week, Netflix reveals the list of the top 10 most-watched films/TV shows globally and on a country level both.
While last week was great for Netflix India, thanks to Dasvi, it was only for that film. Instead, the TV shows list is something alarming to both viewers and Netflix India as a whole.
If you closely notice then there is ONLY ONE Indian series in the whole list. The rest list is filled with foreign shows which also include FRIENDS which had no other reason to climb up the list other than the sheer lack of Indian content on the platform.
This is a complete reflection that it is a high time Netflix India should focus on International quality Indian shows. Because India has much more potential than what is being reaped. Because this is not a normal thing that Indians are too busy with the foreign content. This may raise a question on the survival of Indian content in India itself let alone globally.
Even talking about The Fame Game, it was so successful because of the stardom which came bundled with Madhuri Dixit. Her presence in any series was bound to bring attention and it is not as if the show was too great.
Thus long story short, the latest Top 10 most-watched TV shows in India is an alarming sign that Netflix and all platforms must pay attention to. And that too, on an urgent basis.
