SonyLIV is performing extraordinarily fast. Within a span of 1 month, they are bringing 3 original series which are bonkers.
Firstly they brought Nirmal Pathak Ki Ghar Wapsi on May 27th, then came Salt City just this Friday. Next Friday i.e. 24th June, they are ready to stream Avrodh.
SonyLIV’s USP is out of the box content with great execution. Needless to say, it is kind of compromised as we clearly saw a lack of perfection in Nirmal Pathak Ki Ghar Wapsi.
Although this pace is highly unlikely to remain consistent, it is still a concerning matter for other platforms like Netflix and Prime Video.
No doubt they “try” to bring an original Indian series every month but they fail sometimes. Quite obviously subscribers would be more inclined to purchase a subscription to a platform which gives them more and better content.
SonyLIV is doing exactly that with a bombardment of content which is of decent quality.
Other platforms must think about the quantity of content they are serving the audience as it matters. Salt City and Nirmal Pathak Ki Ghar Wapsi are both family dramas but the former is set in an urban city of Mumbai while the latter tells the story of a village in Bihar.
It gives the audience a sort of choice that they certainly deserve. Only if SonyLIV keeps on making great content like Tabbar and Rocket Boys then there are high chances it would emerge as the dominating OTT.
