Why Jisshu Sengupta Should Stop Getting Type Casted By The Industry!

Jisshu Sengupta is a wonderful actor and we cannot deny that. He has proven himself time and again with a vast range of performances and he pulls off any role with ease. But the industry does not seem to pay any heed to talent and it keeps typecasting him in roles less deserving. He does not seem to play anything else than a husband with negative vibes since Barfi.

Jisshu Sengupta is usually seen in very small roles with very less to do in the overall plot line. With films like Barfi or Shakuntala Devi, he is portrayed in the typical ‘husband’ roles where he does not offer much. Even with films like Manikarnika or Mardaani, he is usually portrayed as weaklings. With The Trial again, it looks like Jisshu Sengupta will again have a role that does not do justice to his talent. And it keeps happening again and again.

Jisshu has played a wide variety of roles in Bengali, from Chaitanya Mahaprabhu to the king of Bhawal, from a Nepali soldier to a father of a dying daughter. Doing roles of weak characters is not a big deal or should not be rejected by any actor but if the industry keeps typecasting actors in such roles for a long time, it will be difficult for them to get diverse roles, which has happened with Jisshu.

Jisshu Sengupta and his talent should be used with more creativity and care as is done in the Bengali film industry. Otherwise it will be a huge misuse.
