Why Keep Actors In The Dark About Reboot Updates?

This year has proven to be the year of remakes. With numerous remakes in the making, many more have officially been announced as well. However, most of these announcements have been accompanied by confused reactions from the ensemble cast.

Hopping on board this train recently was the “The Blair Witch Project” star Joshua Leonard as he slammed the upcoming Lionsgate and Blumhouse reboot of the fan-acclaimed found-footage feature! While Leonard’s face was on the press release of the official announcement for the reboot, he later claimed that he knew nothing about the project.

There exists a fine line between filmmakers and producers speculating about remakes, and leading actors being entirely unaware when their franchises get officially rebooted.

Following Leonard’s social media post, numerous fans poured their support in favor of him. The outcome: fans too believe that if not all, at least actors who are the face of official press releases must be in the loop regarding upcoming projects.

That being said, “The Blair Witch Project” reboot is one of the many horror franchise reimaginings in the making. Original features “The Black Phone” and “It Follows” both have sequels upcoming, with “The Exorcist” and “The Omen” having received new franchise installments already.

Well, with so much happening all around, we certainly hope no more actors are kept in the dark again!
