Why Loki Is Not Using His Powers To Undo This Event In Season 2

The latest episode of Disney+ Loki Season 2 has bestowed our beloved ‘God of Mischief’ the power of time slippage. This ability enables him to time travel within the Multiverse, making him one of the most powerful characters in the MCU right now. However, he has not yet used his newly gained powers to undo his death in Infinity War (2018).

The rules of time travel are quite different in the MCU. Traditionally, the process of changing the events of the past also changes the future. We have seen that in many movies or TV shows. However, Endgame (2019) showed that time worked differently, adding more branches to the timeline rather than changing the future entirely. On the other hand, Loki tried modifying his past in the show and ended up affecting his own timeline.

Theoretically, Loki’s newly gained powers enable him to undo his death and escape from Thanos’ grasp in Infinity War. He can also stop his attack on New York in The Avengers (2012). In fact, he can have a whole different life than what he has right now. But all these things do not make sense in terms of Disney+ Loki’s narrative.

Season 2 reflects all the good things about Loki. He has accepted his past mistakes, ultimately enabling him to outgrow his past self, which consisted of treacherous behaviour and selfish ambitions. If he makes a time jump to undo all his past actions, then he will betray his story in the ongoing second season. It took Loki nearly 12 years to achieve his ongoing narrative in the show. He is now selfless. He has started caring about his friends, TVA, and the Multiverse. All these things show his growth.

Ultimately, Loki will not undo his demise as he does not want to lose what he has right now. His fate was to find a family that actually loved and cared about him. That family consists of Mobius, OB, Casey, B-15, and Sylvie.
