Why RDJ’s Upcoming Dystopian Sci-Fi Drama Can Be A Risky Project!

Hollywood superstar Robert Downey Jr. will next be seen in a dystopian science fiction drama. The film is named ‘The Nightshade Chronicles’ and it will be directed by filmmaker Shane Black. Shane Black is known for directing films like the ‘Lethal Weapon’ series and many more. It will be an interesting project for the pair and will have a huge budget. Robert Downey Jr. will be playing a detective who goes on to solve a series of murders in the dystopian city.

There is a book series named ‘The Nightshade Chronicles’ written by Hilary Wagner. The books are based on a futuristic metropolis but the residents and the characters are rats and rodents. It is not known if the makers are going to adapt this book series and if yes how are they going to change the plot to fit human characters in it. RDJ’S last venture into children’s films with animal characters was not a smooth experience at all.

Shane Black and RDJ have previously worked together in ‘Kiss Kiss Bang Bang’ which helped in both their careers after a long period of tension. Shane Black also directed arguably the most popular film of the Iron Man Trilogy ‘Iron Man 3’. Robert also made a cameo in Black’s comedy ‘The Nice Guys’. Their pair had proven to be successful so far but if they are planning to adapt Hilary Wagner’s book series into a film, it can be a very serious mistake. Last time RDJ worked on a children’s book with animal characters, it was a disaster. Doctor Dolittle was massive failure and before taking up any similar projects, the makers must think again. While Oppenheimer is one of the most anticipated films of our times, Robert Downey should choose his pther films more carefully.
