Tollywood Star Nagarjuna’s Action Drama Wild Dog was supposed to skip its theatrical release and stream online directly on Netflix. However, the makers pulled out of the deal at the last minute and are going to release the movie in theaters on April 2nd. Nagarjuna revealed what went behind the OTT Release and later the pullout.
“In November, we were confused about what happens to the film. We are not sure if audience would come to theaters even if they open. We got a rosy OTT offer and decided to release WildDog on Netflix. But then, after the success of Krack for Sankranthi and Uppena starring a newcomer in February, we grew confident and pulled out of the deal. Our producer Niranjan Reddy is a lawyer himself and he successfully negotiated with Netflix to pull out. Wild Dog is now releasing in theaters on April 2nd. It is a movie made for theaters be it the visuals, the sound effects, and the entire experience. I am happy it is releasing in theaters,” Nagarjuna said.
The trailer of the film releases on March 10th. A newcomer Ahisor Solomon turns director with the film. He previously worked as a writer for Nagarjuna’s hit film, Oopiri. The post-release Digital Rights of the film are still with Netflix, the team announced.
