Wild Wild Punjab: What’s Wrong with Netflix Films?

Netflix India’s 5th original film of the year is now streaming. After Murder Mubarak, Bhakshak, Amar Singh Chamkila and Maharaj, ‘Wild Wild Punjab’ is the latest movie.

The film was supposed to be a wild ride and it indeed is. However, not in a good way. The film is at best quite tortuous and comes out to be an unbearable film.

The movie stars Sunny Singh, Manjot Singh, Varun Sharma, Jassie Gill and Patralekha Paul. It was promised to be funny but there is no fun in the movie.

If we leave the rare gem Amar Singh Chamkila, then all the original films by Netflix India this year have been a disappointment. The platform is somehow losing its connection with the audience and it is quite reflective in the kind of films we are seeing.

This year is more like a dumping ground for bad films than actual effort-based movies. Netflix has no doubt worked wonderfully on their series. That’s why we see such scaled good series but in the meantime, they also overlooked films and the result is quite visible. This is bad as the popularity of films is usually more than that of films due to several reasons.

It is high time Netflix India saves its platform from sinking into irrelevance.
