If you loved ‘Coraline’, here is some good news for you. The makers of the wonderful movie are coming back with a new project. ‘Wildwood’ will be a stop-motion animation and it had its title teaser revealed today.

It is a dark adventure fantasy film directed by Travis Knight and it has its screenplay written by Chris Butler. It is adapted from the children’s novel of the same name by Colin Meloy and Carson Ellis.

‘Wildwood’ will have some wonderful actors voicing the characters. They are Peyton Elizabeth Lee, Jacob Tremblay, Carey Mulligan, Mahershala Ali, Awkwafina, Angela Bassett, Jake Johnson, Charlie Day, Amandla Stenberg and more. The cinematography is handled by Caleb Deschanel. The music is composed by Dario Marianelli and Matías León.

Laila, the production company behind ‘Wildwood’ is a trusted production house that has come with films like ‘ParaNorman’, ‘Missing Link’, ‘Kubo and the Two Strings’ apart from Coraline.

‘Wildwood’ is slated for a theatrical release in 2025 but the exact date has not been revealed yet. The title teaser looks convincing and it seems we are going to have another great fantasy film for children that is outside the reigns of Disney and Pixar. The films from Disney have big budgets and are massive blockbusters but there is much to children’s stories than those colourful worlds. Wildwood will not be a feelgood drama, it will be closer to a nightmare. It will be the story of Prue McKeel, a little girl who sets out in a dark jungle in search of her lost brother and gets lost herself.
