Will Adding Dubbed Languages After So Many Months Help Prime Video?

Amazon Prime Video has made all three seasons of ‘Four More Shots Please‘ available to watch in Kannada and Malayalam. The series was previously available in Hindi, Tamil and Telugu.

Amazon Prime Video has been doing this for some time. They are adding more audio to the popular films and shows but is it really worth it?

The platform added Kannada and Malayalam audios to the 2020 film ‘Hit: The First Case‘, and Tamil and Kannada audios to ‘Jayamma Panchayathi’. At the time of the release of its sequel, many people wanted to watch the first installment of the ‘Hit’ series, it was a great strategy to add more dubs to the film at that time. But now there is absolutely no buzz around shows like ‘Four More Shots Please’ and it is almost useless at this time. And most of the films that are being released in more languages premiered on the platform long ago.

The film ‘Vismaya’ will have Telugu audio added to it and there will be Tamil audio added to ‘Manu Neethi’ and Gujarati audio added to ‘Boss Have To Dhamaal’. Amazon Prime Video has also added Hindi dub to the Tamil film ‘D Block’. ‘Nritya’, the Hindi version of national award winning Telugu film ‘Natyam’ is also made available to watch.

Trying to expand the viewer base and using the strategy of using more dubs is impressive but Prime Video has to take the time into consideration. They need to add audios when there is still the buzz and demand around the movie or the show. After the hype is over, there is no point in doing so. Amazon Prime Video’s efforts should be appreciated but it is of almost no good to the platform.
