‘Tandav’ is gearing up for its release now as we come closer and closer to its release date. To be streaming on the 15th of January, 2021 on Amazon Prime Video, ‘Tandav’ with all the right amount of glitz and glamour will be one of a kind political drama and notably probably the first of its kind on this big a scale. With an impressive ensemble cast that has Saif Ali Khan as a power hungry and manipulative politician goes against Dimple Kapadia’s character that will be shown as a strong and independent woman in the field of politics.
Tandav is being produced on a big scale, and few of his shots have been doing the rounds on the internet since last year. Tandav, rightfully reminds us of the first web series, “House of Cards” that hit the floor and was showcased on Netflix and till dates remains as one of the greatest political shows ever made. The show also became the first web series to win Golden Globe Awards, Emmy Awards and many more that kept on coming.
As for an online movie or series winning a mainstream award, India already had that through Ayushmann Khurrana starrer Andhadhun. Though, it was a movie that won the awards, it would be amazing to see Tandav receiving the same amount of greatness. Also, that being said Tandav easily opens up a genre that has been there but is less explored as for the last few years, crime, thriller genre has been on the receiving end of great, positive remarks.
With Tandav it seems like the political genre will open up even more. We might have had movies like Rajneeti but it always had an angle that pulled us out of the main topic, which is politics. On the other hand, there too have been a few political dramas but not all could live up to the name.
Tandav being helmed by the genius Ali Abbas Zafar and with a cast so powerful and grand, it sure looks like it will do some head turning activities during its run. It will be extremely interesting to see if it actually covers the genre well and will it truly be India’s answer to Netflix’s House of Cards? It all will be answered on the 15th of January now.
