Will Bad Reviews Of Mirzapur Affect Its Views?

Prime Video had two of its best-performing shows release in a very short span. While Panchayat S3 hit it out of the park, Mirzapur Season 3 performed in an extremely underwhelming manner.

Why is Mirzapur struggling?

Being one of the earliest originals in India, Prime Video didn’t manage to advertise the first two seasons of Mirzapur extensively. However, it was blessed with a favorable release date. Releasing in October 2020, people were hooked due to the lockdown and had ample time to binge-watch it.

Additionally, the audience started to talk about the show on social media. It was a time when OTT platforms began to boom, giving Mirzapur a significant boost. When fans knew that Season 3 was coming, they were talking about it.

But the show is now failing, receiving mediocre reviews. It’s evident that the show is losing its edge. Though it maintained its share of violence, the curses and steamy scenes have been significantly reduced.

This change is affecting the viewership.

Though you can’t say it has fallen massively—people will watch it no matter what—the numbers won’t even come close to what Panchayat S3 achieved.

Mirzapur isn’t a family-friendly show, so its success is limited to a specific fanbase. As the show didn’t generate similar word-of-mouth buzz compared to previous seasons, fans don’t have the same perception of it. Additionally, Prime Video didn’t promote Mirzapur S3 nearly as much as they did with Panchayat S3. This lack of promotion will surely be reflected in the show’s viewership.
