Let’s take a lot of assumptions over here. Let’s assume that Telegram’s daddy has indeed been arrested and the app is in some sort of problem. There are some strong reports that suggest that Telegram will be banned soon in India.
The reasons?
Telegram is supposedly used for a lot of illegal activities and the prime thing is of course piracy. Be it education, movies, documents, newspapers…you name it, telegram has it.
This one free app eats up billions of dollars from so many industries combined. Perhaps that’s the reason it is so successful, simply because Telegram is private and packed with features.
So if it gets banned, will it be a big blow to the piracy industry?
Not at all.
Time and again we have said that piracy is no small thing. Rules and bans can never stop piracy as there will always be alternatives.
Even if Telegram gets banned, hardly in a month or two there will be a new app which will boast all the features of Telegram.
Take the case of torrents. It is illegal in many countries but the usage of torrent is nowhere near stopping. Telegram is just one app in the large network of piracy.
We need something bigger, better and more effective to curb piracy
