While it may be a while before we get DCU’s The Brave and the Bold, this doesn’t stop the DC fanbase from churning their fan-casting mill about the possible actors who could become the next Dark Knight. Another popular name that fans have chosen to play Batman is Brandon Sklenar, who starred alongside Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni in ‘It Ends With Us’.
The Brave and the Bold was one of the first official announcements from James Gunn for the DCU’s movie section. We don’t know much about the film’s plot, but Gunn confirmed that it will focus on Batman’s complicated relationship with his son, Damian Wayne. Andy Muschietti, director of The Flash, will direct this one.
Apart from Brandon Sklenar, other prominent names that have been selected by fans for the role of Batman are Alan Ritchson (Reacher) and Jensen Ackles (The Boys, Supernatural).
There is no denying that Sklenar is a popular choice among fans. Even Blake Lively has supported the actor’s fan casting, saying that Gunn should give “the people what they need.”
However, Lively may be the reason Sklenar’s casting in The Brave and the Bold might not end up sitting well with fans. If you guys are not living under a rock and constantly visit social media platforms, then you should be familiar with the ongoing controversy between Lively and Justin Baldoni, which started during the production of ‘It Ends With Us’.
While the movie itself emerged as a huge financial success, earning over $350 million globally, it received a mixed reception from viewers and critics. One could argue that the ongoing Blake-Baldoni battle might have helped the movie earn big bucks.
The ‘It Ends With Us’ controversy might bring unwanted attention to Brandon Sklenar, who certainly has the looks to pull off a good-looking Bruce Wayne and an intense Batman. But looks are not enough, as the actor must also possess the necessary gravitas and display vulnerability and intensity in his performance to connect with the viewers.
The ongoing legal battle between Baldoni and Lively could harm Sklenar’s popularity and chances of getting selected as the new Batman. Another scenario that may also adversely impact the actor’s odds is his open support for Lively in her accusations against Baldoni. This has already pissed off a large portion of the DC fanbase, who believe that Baldoni is innocent and Lively is the main culprit.
However, the ‘It Ends With Us’ controversy shouldn’t be the sole determinant of Sklenar’s suitability for the role. His talent and performance as Batman are what truly matter. Fans will ultimately decide whether he’s a good fit for The Brave and the Bold, regardless of any external controversies. Stay tuned for more updates.
