When you transfer a perfume from one bottle to another it loses some of its essence, and if you put it into a jar which already has a fragrance then the main perfume will lose its own charisma.
“Khalbali Records” has the same potential to lose its essence of its real music.
Directed by Devanshu Singh, “Khalbali Record” is an outstanding approach. But web series are meant to be plot based and the most crucial part is the world building, here the world is music.
We have seen movies like “Gully Boy” where also music played a crucial role, but in this series, stated by the director many artists are collaborating, unlike “Gully Boy” which had a plot and music infused in it. This web series will probably be just a juxtaposition of music.
Furthermore they are dubbing it in 5 more languages where the main script is in hindi.
Now unlike dialogues music changes when it comes to another language, and loses its power to deliver the message it wanted to give.
A primary example is the song , “Oo Antava”, which is a Telugu song but when we listen to its Hindi version we don’t get the thrill like we get from the original one.
Now, dubbing itself is a very hectic process, now the question is will “Khalbali Records” be able to stand out in the crowd, because the challenge they took is a very claver gambit, it can help you win but a slight mistake can drag you down.
