Will Fallout Be Prime Video’s Version Of The Last Of Us?

The world of entertainment is taking a turn, especially during an era when trends shift rapidly. Now, the entertainment industry is witnessing a rising and dominating force, and that is Video Game Adaptation. Most studios and OTT platforms are diving deep into the world of video game adaptations.

From Mario to Paramount’s Halo, the list goes on and it’s always expanding. And now, as Fallout joins the list yesterday, there can be several comparisons made, especially with 2023’s biggest hit, The Last Of Us.

Both have certain similarities which can’t be avoided, especially the post-apocalyptic setting, which is one of the most determining factors. Besides these, count in the survival instinct and human threats; both of them have potential. But there are some factors which make them different as well.

Firstly, the type of apocalypse is different, but more importantly, the narration style is much different. The Last of Us does provide a more character-oriented storytelling, which is much different than Fallout; the open-world game is usually a survival-oriented journey and the mood changes based on the game.

Now, let’s talk about the fan reception of both the adaptations.

The Last of Us was definitely one of the biggest hits of last year, grabbed a plethora of awards, but focusing on character-based storytelling, it is unavoidable. Fallout will suffer a different fate; you will have a hard time deciding whom to love.

Talking about the ratings, The Last Of Us is ruling with 8.7 on IMDb and 96% on Rotten Tomatoes, while Fallout, on the other hand, has 93% on Rotten Tomatoes. As per the early reviews, the new Prime Video show is gaining solid traction in the first few hours of streaming.

So, does this have the potential to be Prime Video’s ‘’The Last Of Us”? On paper, the chances might be a bit low; keeping the storytelling quality of the show in mind, it might be a bit tougher. But will it be a hit? That’s a no-brainer, at least for the fans.
