Will Harrison Ford Play Indiana Jones Again In The Disney+ Series?

The fifth Indiana Jones movie titled ‘Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny’ is all set for its theatrical release on 30th June and it’s going to be the last film of the highly popular film franchise. Like the earlier four films, Harrison Ford will play the titular role in the upcoming instalment as well.

You might be aware that an Indiana Jones television series is also in the works at Disney+. So, will Harrison Ford reprise his role for the Indiana Jones series also? Die-hard fans of the veteran Hollywood actor will be disappointed to know that the actor has himself revealed that ‘Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny’ will be the last time he will play the cult character of the daredevil archaeologist. So, the bad news is that he won’t appear in the Indiana Jones series.

But, in a way, ‘Dial of Destiny’ being the last outing for Harrison Ford as Indiana Jones and the actor not starring in the series makes sense. Because the prolific performer is now eighty years old and the way the character was conceived by George Lucas, it calls for loads of action stunts and high-octane sequences which wouldn’t be possible for an octogenarian actor to perform, and it won’t look credible.

The first four Indiana Jones films were created by George Lucas and directed by legendary filmmaker Steven Spielberg. Whereas the fifth movie is being helmed by James Mangold, who is the man behind films like Logan, The Wolverine, Knight and Day, and Walk the Line, etc.

The Indiana Jones franchise started off with Raiders of the Lost Ark that was released in 1981. The next film Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom came out in 1984. While Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade got its release five years later. The last film in the series Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull got a theatrical release in the year 2008 and was set in the year 1957.

Although the fourth film was not able to meet the sky-high expectations of the earlier three films by many die hard franchise fans. So now, all eyes will be on the upcoming film ‘Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny’ and the Indiana Jones Disney+ series and whether they can revive the franchise in a big way.
