Walt Disney’s theme park-based fantasy film series ‘Pirates of the Caribbean’ is a globally popular blockbuster franchise. And the film series had catapulted eminent Hollywood actor Johnny Depp to the international limelight for his memorable portrayal of the fan favorite character Jack Sparrow. Johnny Depp starred in the first film ‘Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl’ back in 2003.
Even before the latest, that is, the fifth Pirates installment ‘Dead Men Tell No Tales’ came out in the year 2017, speculations about a sixth Pirates movie have been consistently doing the rounds. However, the making of the long-in-development ‘Pirates 6’ movie was apparently hampered owing to Johnny Depp’s legal matters related to his former wife Amber Heard.
You might already be aware that Johnny Depp is suing the ‘Aquaman’ actress Amber Heard for a $50 million defamation case on account of the latter’s remark in The Washington Post in 2018. During the cross-examination in the ongoing defamation trial, Johnny Depp’s recent statement has implied that he is not willing to work in ‘Pirates of the Caribbean 6’ in case he is offered the movie.
Amber Heard’s attorney had asked Johnny Depp: “The fact is, Mr. Depp, if Disney came to you with $300 million and a million alpacas, nothing on this earth would get you to go back and work with Disney on a ‘Pirates of the Caribbean’ film? Correct?” To which Johnny Depp’s reply was “That is true”, thereby confirming his disinclination to reprise his role in the next installment of the ‘Pirates of the Caribbean’ movie.
Besides the ‘Pirates of the Caribbean’ films, the Golden Globe award-winning actor Johnny Depp has previously showcased his acting prowess in many films. The list includes ‘Finding Neverland’, ‘Charlie and the Chocolate Factory’, ‘Sleepy Hollow’, and ‘Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street’, to name a few. His forthcoming acting projects include the animated series ‘Puffins’ and a yet-untitled Louis XV film.
