Will Kevin Bacon Star In The ‘Footloose’ Reboot?

Plenty of reboot projects have flooded mainstream Hollywood in the last few years, giving fans of Footloose (1984) some hope about getting a reboot someday. Even if we do get a remake of the original movie, will we see Kevin Bacon appear in it? We suggest you take a grain of salt before reading the following statement from Bacon.

In his recent interview with Cinema Blend, Bacon ended all hopes of appearing in the Footloose reboot, if it ever gets made in the future. “Ren is not coming back,” the actor said.

This is indeed heartbreaking news from Bacon, considering how the original Footloose movie made him an overnight sensation. The 1984 film follows Ren McCormack (Bacon), a teenage boy from Chicago who moves to the small town of Bomont and fights to overturn the ban on dancing implemented by a local minister, Rev. Shaw Moore (John Lithgow).

Footloose opened to mixed reviews from critics, but audiences loved it, making it a commercial success. The movie earned an impressive $80 million at the box office against a $7.5 million budget, solidifying its place as a cult favorite among fans.

Meanwhile, you guys can watch Kevin Bacon in Netflix’s Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F, starring alongside the one and only Eddie Murphy. Stay tuned for more updates.
