Sithara Entertainment has unveiled the title and teaser for its upcoming highly anticipated film starring Vijay Deverakonda. Known as #VD12 up until now, the film that is penned and helmed by ‘Jersey’ fame Gowtam Tinnanuri has now been titled ‘Kingdom’.
‘Kingdom’ teaser talks about an endless war that does not stop at any cost and has claimed multiple lives. Questions are raised why and for whom is such destruction and revolt taking place. And the answer to it is – for the arrival of a king, a hero who will fight the evil and bring justice to the victims.
Titled as ‘Saamrajya’ in Hindi, ‘Kingdom’ teaser travels between past and present and intrigues with its grand setups that have mythical/historic elements alongside the present modern scenarios. Vijay Deverakonda makes a great screen presence in trimmed hair look and his character seems to have some intense dark shades that definitely look interesting. The film will release in theatres worldwide on 30th May, 2025.
Now for Deverakonda, ‘Kingdom’ is extremely important given his films tanking terribly for the past couple of years. His Bollywood debut ‘Liger’ was a disaster, Telugu rom-com ‘Kushi’ was underwhelming, and Telugu action comedy drama ‘The Family Star’ was a box office bomb.
Also, ‘Kingdom’ is a big budget, big banner film that raises the pressure bar even higher for Deverakonda who needs a win desperately now. ‘Kingdom’ definitely has the potential and also a great technical team working on it including music by the young sensation Anirudh Ravichander.
If done right ‘Kingdom’ can mark the much needed comeback for Deverakonda who can then re-establish himself as the actor who rose to fame with ‘Arjun Reddy’ and has given back to back hits like ‘Mahanati’, ‘Geetha Govindam’ and ‘Taxiwaala’.
Not that a few bad films make someone a bad actor but if it goes on happening again and again, it certainly puts out a bad picture, specially in the glamorous entertainment industry where the audience’s patience is not that long lived.
