Junaid Khan and Khushi Kapoor starrer ‘Loveyapa’ came out in theatres in February this year and got a pretty underwhelming response. The critics bashed it and not just that, it tanked terribly at the box office too.
But to surprise, a certain section of the audience ended up praising ‘Loveyapa’ for its warm fuzzy modern day relatability. Perhaps they hadn’t seen the original blockbuster Tamil version ‘Love Today’ (2022) starring and directed by Pradeep Ranganathan.
And that’s what raises the question: will ‘Loveyapa’ find love on OTT? The film is scheduled to premiere on Jio Hotstar this April 4th after completing the eight week window post theatrical release.
‘Loveyapa’, is touted to be a faithful, mechanical remake that lacked the sizzle and mostly because of poor performances by the lead pair. There were also pacing issues cited with the film among few other things.
Moreover, Kapoor’s recent blunder ‘Nadaaniyan’ might further dampen any excitement there might have been for ‘Loveyapa’ on its streaming debut. In addition, hasn’t built quite a rapport yet either.
There seems to be a lot going against ‘Loveyapa’ at the moment. Infact many of you might already have forgotten that something like that ever came out. But now that we have reminded you of it, will you give ‘Loveyapa’ a try on Jio Hotstar?
