Will Marvel Ditch Kang Storyline After Director And Writer Departure?

In comics, Kang has always been portrayed as one of the most devastating figures, but that is far from what we are seeing on the screens. In the comics, Kang already made Thanos taste defeat, but for on-screen success, Thanos is probably getting the upper hand as Marvel doesn’t seem interested in the character lineup.

Though the on-screen persona of Jonathan Majors isn’t quite secure right now, it’s the offscreen persona that has a lot to do with Marvel’s recent attitude towards the character.

Majors faces legal woes with assault charges against ex-partner Grace Jabbari in NYC on March 25. Despite pleading not guilty, he was dropped by his management, projects postponed, and roles recast. Alleged abuse victims are cooperating with the Manhattan DA, and Majors is set to stand trial on November 29.

Despite delivering stellar performances as Kang variants and The One Who Remains in consecutive projects, it’s not about the acting but the offscreen complications that are now turning off the makers.

Several departures also hint that Marvel and Disney might be planning to ditch the projects. Jeff Loveness, the writer of Quantumania, has already announced that he isn’t associated with the project anymore. The line of departure doesn’t stop there, as Destin Daniel also departs as the director of the project.

Reportedly, both of them are still associated with MCU, as Destin Daniel will still be directing projects such as Sang Chi 2 and Wonder Man.

As Marvel is getting closer to the final play, they don’t seem as committed as in previous instances. The creators can use Loki as a medium to destroy the entire storyline, but there is no complete assurance about that as well.

So, ironically, MCU is trying to erase the man from the timeline who has conquered it all—Marvel is trying to conquer Kang The Conqueror.
