Hollywood adaptations of hit TV content from other parts of the world have usually been a disaster. One such example is Channel 4’s brilliant celebrity game show series, ‘Taskmaster’. The US adaptation of the show cannot be compared to its UK counterpart (and original TV show). While we have a little more faith in Netflix than Hollywood as a whole, we do not know if the adaptation of the British sitcom, ‘Murder in Successville’, will work as well as the original series. Especially with Will Arnet as the “host” of the upcoming series, ‘Murderville’.
‘Murderville‘ will be a show set in the fictional town, where a murder takes place at the beginning of an episode. Each episode will feature a different celebrity, who will assist the eccentric detective Terry Seattle in solving the murder (of that respective episode). The guest stars are not provided with a script and are made to improvise on the spot in this crime comedy. At the end of each episode, the celebrity guest has to guess who the real murderer is. The six-episode series will feature these guest stars – Conan O’Brien, Marshawn Lynch, Kumail Nanjiani, Annie Murphy, Sharon Stone and Ken Jeong.
2022 is going to be a good year for Netflix. Many highly anticipated films, TV shows, animated series and documentaries are making their way to the streaming platform… and we can’t wait. However, unlike other OTT platforms, Netflix’s lesser content garner as much attention as their highly anticipated ones. Case in point, the Nicholas Cage hosted show, ‘History of Swear Words’. So while Hollywood adaptation of International shows may not work all that well – with a good list of guest stars expected to make an appearance on ‘Murderville’, this show just might be worth a watch.
The Will Arnet starring web series, ‘Murderville’ will premiere on Netflix, next week, on February 3rd 2022. Check out the trailer for this upcoming show, below:
