Netflix India’s next original series is Class. The trailer was a good one but it is certainly not to everyone’s taste. So it received mixed responses from the audience. In case you are unaware Class is the official remake of the Spanish series Elite.
Elite has six seasons and that too is a Netflix original. Despite being exceptionally popular it is one of the finest shows to come out of Spain.
So will its Indian remake have the same energy as the original?
Not necessarily but it is not necessary as well. Because Elite is not as popular as Money Heist in India. The basic proposition of the series is the class clash. Also, the name of the Indian remake has a pun in it.
It not only means “Class” as in the classroom but also the economic and social class. The series will show the clash of the same through their characters.
Indian audience got a glimpse of this concept in Rani Mukerji’s Hichki but that was a different kind of film as a whole.
The prospect of Class in India is in extremes. Either it will be hit straight into the heads of the youth or it will remain unnoticed. The case rests on the promotional strategy of Netflix India and ultimately on the content.
