There are several actors from Bollywood who have been typecasted for their roles in their career and we too recognize them for a particular stint. We’ve seen several times that if an actor gives a brilliant performance then the expectations for his/her next work just doubles. And if their next work isn’t upto the level of their highly appreciated one, then the tide turns and people start to point out the similarities between the two roles. This has been the case for a long time. And in a recent interview, the ‘Scam 1992’ actor Pratik Gandhi too acknowledged the fact.
He was asked a question about his future projects and how he’ll be able to get rid of his image as Harshad Mehta and bring something completely fresh onto his next work? It seemed like Pratik has become experienced to these types of questions as he answered beautifully – That he doesn’t want to be typecasted due to his performance as Harshad Mehta in Scam 1992 and advises the audience to come with a free mind whenever his next work comes out. This is because, sometimes characters click with the audience and sometimes they don’t, and making the continuous comparison between the two will only spoil your thoughts.
A recent example of this was with the series Bicchho Ka Khel starring Divyenndu where people thought that the characters, settings when very similar to Mirzapur which also starred the former. Netizens pointed out the fact that although Divyenndu was playing a different character, one could see the nuances of Munna Tripathi in Akhil Shrivastav.
This will be the case for many actors who achieved success and fame in 2020 due to their respective works in OTT.
It will be interesting to see how actors choose their next projects because as soon as a series or a movie becomes a humongous success, naturally there comes a load of expectations for everyone associated with the project. And people will be looking to point out the characters of the actors in their new work.
But since they are professionals, it won’t be such a big task to switch and come up with diverse content from their previous ones, After all they are called actors for a reason!
