After multiple rounds of talks and negotiation, the makers of RRR convinced the makers of Pawan Kalyan’s Bheemla Nayak to postpone the film’s release from 12th January to a later date. The idea was to create a solo run at the box office for RRR. But ironically enough, both these films were postponed, albeit for different reasons. While Bheemla Nayak vacated the Sankranthi slot over the request from RRR unit, RRR’s release was deferred in view of the Covid outbreak. As things stand, Bheemla Nayak will be arriving in theatres on 25th February, while RRR’s release has been pushed to April.
Now, there are reports claiming that the makers of RRR are eyeing April 28 and 29 as the two potential release dates for the film. This is to cash in on the summer season. But coincidentally, RRR might be clashing with Pawan Kalyan again. If the makers of RRR do lock April 28/29 release slot, they will have to enter another round of talks with Pawan Kalyan as the latter’s forthcoming film, Hari Hara Veera Mallu is announced for release on the 29th of January.
Hari Hara Veera Mallu is still in filming stage. But given the rate at which the director of the film, Krish operates, theatrical release in April is very much possible. And if the makers decide to stick to April 29 slot, then it can come as a headache for RRR which is also sizing up the very same slot. Pawan Kalyan already had to vacate the Sankranthi slot for RRR. If reports are to go by, he might have to do the same again this summer by postponing Hari Hara Veera Mallu’s release in order to make way for RRR. But will that happen? We have to wait and see.
