Will Prime Video’s Mirzapur Fall To Its Own Panchayat

Based on region, every OTT giant has its marquee series, and for Prime Video India, they have a couple that boost their viewership. “Mirzapur” and “Panchayat” have been the Macbeth and Banquo for the OTT giants in India, but this time, it looks like “Mirzapur” is lacking in front of “Panchayat.”

Prime Video is sometimes promoting “Panchayat” Season 3 more than “Mirzapur” Season 3, even though the latter is just around the corner.

On paper, it’s true that “Panchayat” will bring more viewership as it carries the family-friendly tag. On the other hand, “Mirzapur” has uncensored violence, which people absolutely love, but it’s something you don’t watch with your family.

Despite these factors, though Prime Video is doing some promotions for the upcoming “Mirzapur,” it is nothing compared to what they did with “Panchayat.” Additionally, “Mirzapur’s” promotion was too slow, and some viewers called out that fact. Though the slow promotion of “Panchayat” worked, “Mirzapur’s” was too sloth-like. Plus, the gap between the second season and third season of “Mirzapur” had a waiting period of four years, during which people’s tastes might have changed.

Yesterday, Prime Video dropped a hip-hop song by Raga, which is definitely a big deal as Raga is one of the biggest singers in the hip-hop industry. But he is someone who doesn’t appeal to the masses. While he appeals to a different fanbase, there are fewer chances that the Desi Hip-Hop fanbase will consider watching it.

Besides that, Prime Video is going wild with “Panchayat” Season 3. It is in the top 3 of Prime Video India’s most-watched content, so it was obvious that Prime Video would get the traction. But it is eclipsing the hype of “Mirzapur,” that’s for sure.
