When discussing successful Tamil A-rated action films, does any name ring a bell? Yes, we had Raayan, which is undoubtedly not only one of the best films in the industry but also had a fruitful box-office run. And rightfully so—it sets a standard for both Tamil and Hindi audiences.
However, Quotation Gang might face a tough run because of that.
Firstly, the Hindi audience will be mostly occupied with all the Hindi releases. Quotation Gang might not be the film they’ll choose to quench their thirst for violence, especially with Gangs of Wasseypur re-releasing. Sunny Leone and Jackie Shroff’s major fanbase is in the North, and a Hindi dub or a well-advertised release would work, but this isn’t the right time.
Though the trailer was promising, it felt somewhat scattered. The action seemed up to the mark, but its success will depend on the audience. Fans love seeing violence on the big screen, and realistically, Quotation Gang can provide that, but to what extent? Fans will find out on August 30th.
However, when an A-rating certification is attached to a title, expectations skyrocket, which can lead to disappointment. At least in terms of action, Raayan or Animal delivered, and if Quotation Gang doesn’t match that intensity, fans might struggle to justify the rating.
In terms of content, Quotation Gang is quite innovative—a woman-centric gang film is relatively new. But when it comes to the action, fans have developed a certain taste, and if Quotation Gang can deliver, fans will have another A-rated action film to add to their list of favorites.
