SonyLIV is slowly but surely becoming the destination for football streaming. Though JioCinema holds the rights for the Football World Cup, SonyLIV has the rights for other major tournaments. As the Euros are ongoing, people will depend on the services of SonyLIV.
However, lately, the OTT giant has been failing to provide quality service.
Most Indian platforms have recently struggled with live sports streaming, and SonyLIV is practically living on the edge. When Hotstar used to be the destination for sports, though they occasionally fumbled, it was nothing compared to JioCinema and SonyLIV.
JioCinema managed a massive crowd during the IPL, and Hotstar is currently doing the same during the World Cup. But the Euros won’t attract nearly as much crowd as other tournaments. In a country like India, cricket is the religion, and football is a luxury.
The Euros are being held at midnight, resulting in a smaller audience pool, yet SonyLIV is having a tough time managing the experience.
The Euros have been no different: the streaming was laggy and choppy, and fans claim they have to constantly restart the stream to fix the issue. Additionally, advertisements have become a major problem. Whenever fans have to restart the stream, they are forced to watch an unskippable advertisement, ruining the experience even more.
@SonyLIV Your streaming of Euros is absolutely pathetic

How many times I have to restart stream and you push those ads every time I reconnect
Disgraceful#SonyLiv
Never extending my subscription post Euros
Please..for the love of all things good in this world, let another platform steam events like the Euros. Your platform is pathetic and cannot handle it. #euro2024
