Soon after its premiere on the SonyLIV OTT platform, ‘Rocket Boys S1’ became an instant hit amongst streaming audiences. The show garnered unanimous critical acclaim and, along with another SonyLIV show ‘Tabbar’, dominated last year’s Filmfare OTT awards too.
Now, after a gap of just over a year, the second season of ‘Rocket Boys’ is all set to start streaming on SonyLIV from 16th March onwards. ‘Rocket Boys’ Season-2 will focus on the change in India’s leadership during that period and how it affected the country’s mission to make it a nuclear nation. It’s narrated from the perspective of three dynamic personalities Dr. Homi J. Bhabha, Dr. Vikram Sarabhai, and Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam.
And in case you’re wondering whether ‘Rocket Boys’ Season-2 will shed some light on and dare to show the infamous conspiracy theory about Homi Bhabha’s alleged mysterious death, let us tell you that it’s probably going to happen or at least hinted at.
For the unversed, Dr. Homi Bhabha (brilliantly played by Jim Sarbh in ‘Rocket Boys’) died in an airplane crash back in the year 1966. Although the official reason of the crash was an apparent misunderstanding between the airplane pilot and the Geneva airport, a conspiracy theory claiming that it was actually an assassination by America’s CIA on the reputed nuclear physicist came to the fore many years later.
As per some astounding revelations by conspiracy theorist Gregory Douglas, USA’s Central Intelligence Agency aka CIA was behind the death / alleged assassination of Dr. Homi Bhabha. As per his claim, a bomb exploded mid-air in the same flight on which Dr. Homi Bhabha was flying and that was the cause of the crash.
In ‘Rocket Boys’ Season-1 finale, it was clearly hinted that Dr. Homi Bhabha and India’s nuclear plans were closely monitored by the CIA. Moreover, in ‘Rocket Boys’ Season-2 official trailer, an important character says the line “It’s finally time to take Homi Out”. This implies that he is possibly talking about the theory that the CIA has ill intentions against Homi Bhabha’s nuclear ambitions for India.
Having said that, it would be interesting to see whether the makers of ‘Rocket Boys’ will showcase Dr. Homi Bhabha’s death as a simple airplane crash or will they be bold enough and dare to touch upon the conspiracy theory about the alleged assassination of Dr. Homi Bhabha by the CIA. For that, we must wait until tomorrow when ‘Rocket Boys Season-2’ starts streaming on SonyLIV.
